Relationships:
Maero Santiago Rivera(Friend with Benefits) - Maero is a recent introduction in Veronica’s life, one she didn’t expect, but definitely needed, a night fling in her weakest hour. They met at Onogoro, a run down bar in Kabukicho, the red light district when Veronica was wilder. Two foreigners not yet having found their place in their new world. During this period, Veronica was in a relationship with a man named Yajū, he fell in with the Yakuza shortly after the start of their relationship. Maero convinced her to leave and eventually Veronica tried too. When she did, Yajū showed his true colors. He stalked her, manipulated her, even straight out started abusing her to convince her to stay. Although Veronica is a stoic woman, she cared for Yajū in some strange way, but ultimately she came clean to Maero about the situation finding no other way to deal with it.
“I’ll have a talk with him about it,” is the only thing Maero told her before giving her the keys to crash at his place. At first, Veronica rejected the idea, but Maero didn’t let up and she ultimately agreed. He didn’t return home himself until the next day, covered in dirt and a few bruises, but just let her know things were handled. Veronica never learned exactly what he did, but she never heard from Yajū again that night, nor did anyone else. Veronica grew up in San Diego, she knew the stories of a Tijuana man known for making people disappear. Although she hasn’t confronted him on it, Veronica has come to believe she has found the infamous “El Barquero”, and calls him friend.

Power Information
Main power:
Child of the Sun(Sun Embodiment) - Veronica can harness and control the raw power of the sun to unprecedented and mystical levels turning solar energy into bio-energy and producing extreme heat, fire, and light as a product of that control. At sunrise, her power runs steady; by noon, it peaks to world-breaking levels; and at night, it runs on stored energy. At full output, her heat can reach beyond what normal matter can handle, melting steel instantly, turning solid ground to scorched earth, and burning through armor, energy fields, and even non-physical things like spirits or concepts. When fully unleashed, nothing touched by her heat survives; it isn’t just burned it’s erased completely.

Additionally Veronica’s body functions like a living solar reactor that grows stronger with sunlight, even to the point of turning into flames or light when the bio energy coursing through her peaks. Her body has adapted to withstand her own energy, making her completely immune to heat, radiation, and fire-based damage. Sunlight and heat constantly fuels and restores her, granting immense stamina, slow aging, and resistance to toxins, diseases, or fatigue. Even without direct sunlight, stored energy keeps her functioning at peak condition for extended periods. Prolonged solar exposure enhances strength, speed, and reflexes far beyond human limits, while her body naturally repairs itself at an accelerated rate. The brighter the sun, the stronger and more indestructible she becomes.

Weaknesses:
Weakness 1 - Solar Dependency (Energy Drain at Night) - Without direct sunlight, Veronica runs entirely on stored energy. The longer she goes without exposure, the weaker her firepower, stamina, and regeneration become. Extended battles through the night or in enclosed, sunless areas drastically drain her reserves, eventually dimming her flames and leaving her physically vulnerable.
Weakness 2 - Overload - While Veronica’s body can withstand her own heat, channeling too much heat at noon for too long risks internal instability. The energy begins to burn her from within, not physically, but spiritually and mentally, causing pain, disorientation, and loss of control. If she doesn’t vent the excess safely, it could trigger a solar meltdown that destroys everything around her, including herself. She can only maintain the full unleashed power of her heat at noon for seven minutes.
Weakness 3 - Light Suppression and Absorption Weakness - Powers or environments that block, absorb, or distort sunlight (e.g., eclipses, shadow realms, anti-light barriers, or light-draining abilities) can severely weaken Veronica. Dark energy, smoke clouds, or dimensional rifts that cut her off from solar radiation leave her nearly powerless and unable to recharge.
Weakness 4 - Solar Cycle Limitation - Veronica’s strength is directly tied to the sun’s position. At dawn, her power burns steady but contained; it climbs toward its peak at noon and gradually fades as the sun sets. By nightfall, even with stored energy, her output is only a fraction of its daytime intensity. This natural fluctuation makes her most dangerous under direct daylight but significantly less overwhelming under the moon or in darkness.

Techniques
Flare - Veronica releases a concentrated flash of solar light and heat from her body. The blast can blind enemies, ignite projectiles midair, or melt weapons on contact. When restrained, she can use smaller bursts to clear debris, cauterize wounds, or light up dark areas like a walking sun-lamp. The intensity and radius depend on how much solar energy she channels. She can also use smaller bursts of light to illuminate or signal across great distances.
Sun Step - Veronica transforms her body into pure beams of light or flames to move. She can instantly dissolve into sunlight, shooting in straight lines across distances or creating fire pillars that erupt beneath her, propelling her high into the air. This allows rapid travel, vertical maneuvering, and sudden striking angles. Turning into fire can also be used to avoid being struck while also burning the attacker.
Light Veil - Veronica generates a shimmering shield of condensed sunlight around herself or allies. The barrier burns away projectiles, nullifies heat-based attacks, and blocks radiation or toxins. In calmer moments, she can expand it into a dome that warms and protects an area, useful for survival in freezing environments.
Living Ember - Veronica already passively produces more than average body heat but by reducing her internal output, Veronica can maintain a low, ember-like warmth throughout her body. This steady radiance lets her cook food by touch, dry clothes instantly, or provide heat in cold weather. More importantly, it’s her self-repair mode, her body slowly regenerates as her inner flame restores damaged tissue using stored solar energy.
(Ultimate Technique) - Sun God - When the sun reaches its peak, Veronica can enter a state of pure heat dominance. Her body becomes a blazing silhouette of living fire, her mere presence turning the air into an almost unbreathable wave of heat, drying all the moisture in the area. Every strike releases waves of heat strong enough to vaporize anything in its path. The ground beneath her brings a whole new meaning to scorched earth, and her aura burns away anything foolish enough to enter its vicinity be it steel, darkness, and man alike. For a few short minutes, she becomes the walking embodiment of the sun’s wrath, unstoppable.
Background
Growing up under the perpetual sunshine of Imperial Beach, San Diego, Veronica Rodriguez, born on Christmas Day 2206, was a vibrant example of her Mexican parents roots and the appreciation of her heritage. Her early years were marked by the typical joys of a beachside childhood, but it wasn't long before an extraordinary change began to manifest. One scorching summer afternoon, while playing on the sand, a surge of intense heat erupted from within her, not harming her, but scorching the ground around her. This sudden, awe-inspiring display was her awakening as a Child of the Sun, a living conduit for solar energy, transforming her from an ordinary girl into something truly remarkable.
From that pivotal moment, Veronica embarked on a journey of intense self-mastery. Guided by a fierce resolve and an innate understanding of her own burgeoning capabilities, she spent years training to control the volatile energies swirling within her. Her body, already transforming into a living solar reactor, became impervious to the extreme heat and radiation she wielded, adapting to withstand her own destructive power. Through countless hours of practice, she refined raw solar power into practical abilities.
At the age of 19, Veronica was accepted into Nexus Academy, a specialized college dedicated to educating and training the world's powerful superhumans. As expected of a child who mastered her powers early on in life, the coursework detailing advanced solar physics and radiative transmutation came easily. However the rigid structure and theoretical limitations of academic life chafed against her intrinsically wild nature. The academy gave her access to unparalleled sparring partners and resources, pushing her practical abilities, but she often found herself fighting against the confinement of the curriculum.
It was during this time, roughly between the ages of 19 and 23, that her potent self-confidence blossomed into a period of uninhibited self-discovery. Far from the disciplined training of her youth, Veronica embraced a wilder, more hedonistic side, exploring her desires with unapologetic freedom and becoming known for her spirited, untamed nature. By the time she was 20, the formality of Nexus felt like a cage, and she needed space to truly test the boundaries of her newfound freedom and power outside of supervised sparring rings.
This adventurous spirit led her far from the sunny shores of San Diego and the hallways of Nexus Academy to the neon-drenched streets of Japan. Claiming a highly flexible remote-study year, Veronica sought out vibrancy and grit. A foreigner navigating a new world, she gravitated towards the bustling, sometimes gritty, energy of Kabukicho, finding a temporary solace and a place to truly unleash her wilder instincts in establishments like the run-down bar, Onogoro.
It was amidst this period in Kabukicho that Veronica, then 20, first encountered Maero Santiago Rivera, who was 18, at Onogoro. Maero, already radiating a quiet intensity and a dangerous competence far beyond his years, profoundly altered her path. Their initial chemistry evolved quickly into a complex friend-with-benefits relationship, a no strings attached intimacy tailored perfectly to Veronica’s desire for freedom.
At the same time, she was entangled in a relationship with Yajū, a man who, shortly after they began dating, dove deep into the treacherous world of the Yakuza. As Yajū's grip tightened, his true colors emerged, stalking, manipulation, and eventually outright abuse became his tools to keep Veronica tethered. Though she possessed immense physical strength, her compassion prevented her from taking it out on her then boyfriend, making the emotional toll immense.
Unable to break free on her own, she confided in Maero. Even taking refuge at his place, Maero 'handled’ the situation. Veronica never heard from Yajū again, nor did anyone else. Growing up in San Diego, the whispered legends of Tijuana's infamous 'El Barquero' (the ferryman who makes problems disappear) were well-known, and though unspoken, Veronica has come to believe she found him in Maero.
Now 23, Veronica has maintained her enrollment in Nexus Academy, balancing her third year of studies with the residual freedom gained during her time abroad.
